The G20 Saloon and G21 Touring have been on sale in the UK since 2019, with the LCI facelift landing in 2022. Floor mat fitment is more nuanced than for the equivalent front-drive A-Class or A3 because of the rear-drive transmission tunnel and the 330e PHEV’s altered rear-cabin packaging.

Five things to know before you buy floor mats for the BMW 3 Series

  1. The tunnel is tall on both Saloon and Touring. The G20/G21 is rear-drive (or xDrive), so the transmission tunnel intrudes into the rear-seat footwell far more than on a front-drive C-segment car. A three-piece rear mat set is a better match than a one-piece liner that has to bridge the hump.

  2. 330e rear mats differ from ICE ones. The plug-in hybrid loses ~105 L of Saloon boot to its battery pack, but the rear passenger footwell also sits a few millimetres higher. Rear liners cut for the pure-petrol car sometimes overhang the raised floor sill on the 330e.

  3. LCI (2022-onwards) uses a revised driver’s post. Pre-LCI mats and LCI mats look identical but the driver’s-side twist-lock cam moved by roughly 20 mm. Confirm the listing says “LCI” or “2022 facelift” if your car is post-facelift.

  4. Touring floor mats fit the Saloon and vice versa. The floorpan and rear footwell are identical between the two body styles - the differences are all above the belt line. A Touring boot liner will not fit a Saloon boot, but cabin mats swap freely.

  5. M Sport bolsters do not affect mat fit. They pinch universal seat covers but sit well above the floor, so an all-weather liner clips in as normal.

Frequently asked questions

Which TPE liner brands offer a “post-LCI 3 Series” specific fit?

Most UK-focused brands (Gledring, WeatherTech, Rezaw-Plast) split their 3 Series listings by pre-LCI (2019-2022) and post-LCI (2022-onwards). Reject any listing that only says “G20 3 Series” without a year clarifier.

Does the 330e need a different set of mats to a 320i M Sport?

Fronts are the same. The rear liner is the same shape but a PHEV-specific set is worth it if you want a mat that follows the higher sill exactly rather than overhanging it by a few millimetres.
