Frequently asked questions
Do the XC40 and EX40 share cabin mats?
Yes. Volvo renamed the fully electric XC40 Recharge as the EX40 in 2024, but the platform and cabin are the same. B3/B4 mild-hybrid mats fit the EX40 unchanged.
Does the folding boot divider affect mat fit?
Only in the boot. The XC40 boot has a built-in folding load divider - lift it up to stop shopping rolling around; drop it flush for a level load bay. Aftermarket boot organisers that fit the flat floor block the divider, but the cabin mats are unaffected.
Are 2022 facelift mats interchangeable with pre-facelift?
Yes. The 2022 mid-life update changed the infotainment and dashboard trim; the floor pan and retention pattern carried over.
Do Volvo’s OE Textile mats work well in the UK?
They match the retention hooks exactly and look OE. Winter salt water is absorbed rather than channelled, so a TPE liner is a step up for daily winter use. Many owners run the OE carpet mats in summer and swap for TPE in winter.
One thing many buyers miss
The XC40 EX40 (formerly XC40 Recharge) gains a shallow 31 L frunk that fits a Type 2 charging cable and little else. That is a frunk-liner accessory, not a cabin mat consideration - but if you order “XC40 full mat set” from some listings, it does not include a frunk liner on the EV.
How to check before ordering
- Confirm your car is XC40 or EX40 - both take the same cabin mats.
- Two round retention posts on the driver’s side.
- Rear mat should be one piece with a shallow front kick-up to follow the seat lip.
