Do F70 covers fit the outgoing F40 1 Series?
Front seat shapes are close but not identical - the F70 has a taller headrest post and slightly deeper bolsters than the F40. F40-specific covers gape on F70 seats. Buy F70-specific.
Are side-airbag slots present on every F70 seat?
Yes. Every trim from Sport up ships with front-seat side-impact airbags. Any cover you fit must be explicitly labelled airbag-compatible.
Do M Sport seats need M Sport-specific covers?
Universal covers physically install but the M Sport side bolsters trap elastic hooks and bunch the cover on the outer edge. An M Sport-cut cover follows the bolster contour cleanly.
Is the 40/20/40 rear bench a problem for cover sets?
Only if you buy a bench cover cut for 60/40 - the centre pull-through is unusable. From Sport up, the F70 has 40/20/40; buy three-piece rear cover sets.
One thing many buyers miss
The F70 is front-wheel-drive with a flatter transmission tunnel than the older RWD 1 Series. That does not affect seat covers directly but it changes what “three-abreast in the back” means: wider isofix bases fit better than they used to, but rear cover sets sized for the old, narrow-tunnel rear seat are cut too small.
How to check before ordering
- Confirm your car is F70 (2024-onwards).
- Check the trim badge: Sport, M Sport or M135 xDrive - M Sport needs its own cut.
- Look for “airbag-compatible” on the cover listing - this is not optional.
